It’s designed to provide significant improvements in high-temperature performance, oxidation stability and wear protection, the company said.
PS-164 Rev 7, the new Eaton manual transmission lubricant specification, replaces the previous specifications and sets a higher performance standard for oils used for 500,000 mile drain service in Eaton transmissions under extended warranty. This upgrade was driven by the OEM’s need to enhance gear pitting protection, reduce wear, increase oil oxidation stability and provide better component cleanliness in its equipment, the company said. Eaton specifies use of this upgraded engine oil in its new transmissions and also in older transmissions for extended warranty coverage. Triton Synthetic Transoil 50 provides the following benefits relative to the older generation products: increased protection against pitting and wear, improved thermal stability and component cleanliness, capability to reduce operating temperature in the transmission
ConocoPhillips Lubricants current synthetic transmission oils – 76 Triton Syn Lube CD-50, Conoco Syncon HP Synthetic Transmission Oil 50 and Phillips 66 Philguard Transoil 50 – will be replaced by Triton Synthetic Transoil 50 as it gets incorporated into the heavy-duty product line. Triton Synthetic Transoil 50 is fully compatible with the existing products that it will replace and may be used as make-up oil or for complete oil change in the Eaton transmissions, the company said. Due to revised technology, users will notice a color change from purple to a natural amber color in the new product.
