Accuride brings back USA-made Gunite 3922X brake drum

Accuride says it's responding to several years of comments asking for the brake drum to be made in the USA.

Accuride Corp. announced that its Gunite-branded 3922X cast iron brake drum will now be produced in Accuride’s Rockford, IL Gunite foundry. The company says this move is based on customer demand for a competitive domestically made brake drum, adding that the Gunite foundry updated their tooling to produce the drum for the North American market.

“Customers have been asking us for an American-made version of the 3922X for a few years, and we feel that the time was right to bring it back to Rockford,” says Jayne Orr, Accuride’s senior vice president for North American sales.

The drum, with part no. 3922XUSA, is a 105 lb. cast-iron drum with an optimized design for aftermarket applications. Accuride made announcement to coincide with the Technology & Maintenance Council’s (TMC) Annual Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition.
