Arens Controls Co. LLC said its Secure Truck by-wire shift system has been developed an extra level of vehicle security and convenience. The shift selector features a dual function keypad with buttons that show both shift functions and numbers. According to the company, the operator can easily “lock-out” the transmission function with a single touch of the “security” button. The transmission is then disabled for enhanced theft deterrence, but the engine can be left running so that engine driven accessories like refrigeration units, cab heat, etc. can be maintained in a secured vehicle. Full function can be easily restored through the input of a 4-digit code using the numbers on the keypad. This code is customer programmable, allowing a unique code for each vehicle or the same code for all fleet vehicles. The by-wire shift systems are available in both Park and Non-Park versions, and incorporate all Arens standard shift-by-wire features and proprietary digital switch module technology, the maker said.
