Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC (Bendix) announced the addition of Geotab to the list of telematics platforms that can support SafetyDirect by Bendix CVS. With this integration, SafetyDirect will be available to Geotab-equipped commercial vehicle users, including those deploying earlier versions of Geotab technology. Rollout has begun, with availability to all fleets expected in mid-2020.
“A Geotab-equipped fleet will be able to transfer SafetyDirect data over that channel,” said TJ Thomas, Bendix director of marketing and customer solutions, Controls. “Our fleet customers spec’ing the Geotab platform have expressed great interest in this capability, and we’re excited to provide this solution. It speaks directly to our shared mission of helping fleets increase safety, productivity, and efficiency.”
SafetyDirect by Bendix CVS provides fleet operators with feedback on their fleet and drivers, along with videos of severe events. SafetyDirect gives fleets key insights into common driving behaviors and trends across their operation, according to the company. It wirelessly transmits the driver performance information and event-based data–video, vehicle, and sensor information from a vehicle’s J1939 network– to a secure web portal, providing fleets the necessary tools to help enhance their safety program.
Processing over 30 billion data points a day from more than 2 million connected vehicles across the globe, Geotab provides actionable insights to businesses of all sizes to help them better manage their fleets and make data-driven decisions.
Because no advanced driver assistance technology can replace the need for safe and alert drivers practicing safe driving habits, Bendix stresses the importance of comprehensive, proactive driver training, and providing fleets with actionable information and tools to support their safety efforts.
The company made the announcement during Geotab Connect 2020, the user conference hosted by Geotab, a global leader in IoT and connected transportation.
