Cummins Filtration releases filter upgrades with NanoNet media

As the only filter manufacturer that is part of an engine company, Cummins Filtration said it has extensive, first-hand experience in integrated system solutions for modern diesel engines and offers products to support the rigorous requirements of modern high-pressure fuel systems. Fleetguard Genuine Filtration fuel filtration products are manufactured by Cummins Filtration to meet and exceed OE standards for optimum protection, extending service intervals and reducing the maintenance and operating costs of today’s more complex diesel engines, according to the company.

Now, specific Fleetguard products have been upgraded to feature NanoNet media, the American Filtration Society’s 2013 New Product of the Year winner. NanoNet is an advanced filtration media that traps and retains contaminants even under real world vibration and flow surge. NanoNet media is essentially waterproof and is not affected by water in fuel like conventional cellulose filters. It is a proven solution for protecting fuel system components against hard particle wear and damaging water corrosion, Cummins Filtration reported.

According to the company, this researched and real-world tested media is composed of multiple layers of technology that removes, traps and retains particles as small as 4 microns. Not only does it stop and trap particles 12 times smaller than the human eye can see, but also it collects and retains 10 times more particles than all competitor media.

NanoNet media increases engine protection and aids in the reduction of operating costs by allowing extended service intervals, increasing engine durability and application uptime, the company said.

FlowBelow Aero, Inc., has introduced its new AeroFender, a device that is equipped to truck wheels and reduces drag on day- and sleeper-cabs. FlowBelow tells us that the AeroFender improves fuel efficiency by re-directing the airflow ahead of and around a power unit’s leading drive axle.

At a controlled track test completed in November 2023 by Mesilla Valley Transportation Solutions, FlowBelow says its technology was proven to save 1.49 gallons of fuel for every 1,000 miles driven, or 1.44% overall. The company says that fleets can expect a truck equipped with an AeroFender and traveling 125,000 miles per year to save an estimated 187 gallons of fuel and approximately 4,207.5 lbs. of CO2.
