Getting ready for winter with Thermo King

The company's Extreme Arctic Option for TriPac auxiliary power units allow drivers to cut idle-related costs by up to 85% and stay warm and comfortable as temperatures drop. The Extreme Arctic package, which reduces cold start damage to tractor engines, includes an ambient switch to allow the unit to run continuously when temperatures drop to 0 degrees F and to shut off automatically at 10 degrees F.

Thermo King said it is ready to help customers get ready for winter with solutions for saving fuel and cutting costs, no matter how cold it gets. According to the company, the Extreme Arctic Option for TriPac auxiliary power units helps save during the coldest weather. With winter on the way, truckers can cut idle-related costs by up to 85% and stay warm and comfortable as temperatures drop with Thermo King’s TriPac APUs.

To give extra protection to tractor engines in extremely cold climates, the Extreme Arctic package, which reduces cold start damage to tractor engines, now includes an ambient switch to allow the unit to run continuously when temperatures drop to 0 degrees F and to shut off automatically at 10 degrees F. The optional package for TriPac includes both a coolant and an oil heater, which ensures that cold weather starting problems are a thing of the past and that engine wear is similar to that of warm weather starts, according to the company.

Thermo King also is offering rebates for customers purchasing select Espar heaters, which the maker said can help drivers cut fuel usage by 90% or more compared to heat generated by the tractor engine. Customers can qualify for rebates of up to $1,000 when they purchase qualifying quantities of select Espar heaters through Dec. 31.
Versions of the following Espar heaters are included in the promotion: 12-volt Airtronic D4 Truck Kits; 12-volt Airtronic D2 Truck Kits; Airtronic D2/Hydronic 5 Combo Truck Kits; and Hydronic D5 Truck Kits.
