Glacier Bay Inc., a manufacturer of no-idle solutions for Class 8 trucks, announced the availability of a space saving battery box for its ClimaCab electric auxiliary power unit (APU). This new option extends the technology advantages of ClimaCab while reducing the number of components outside the cab by 25%, allowing truck operators to take up less space on the crowded frame rails of a vehicle. In addition, this option also makes the system easier to install and service, according to the company.
The new smaller battery box also can contain the ClimaCab Power Management Module and reduces the number of components overall, the company said. In addition, it provides the truck operator more flexibility in installing the ClimaCab systems on crowded vehicles. The new slim battery boxes are now available and cost $100 more than the standard battery box for ClimaCab.
