The Spraydown system replaces traditional mud flap spray diffusion with functional airflow management, according to exclusive North American distributor, Koneta Inc. One benefit of the product’s air and water separation is improved driver safety through spray reduction, the company explained. Decreased fuel consumption, lowering fleets’ costs as well as their carbon footprint, is another benefit.
Spraydown has been tested and marketed to major fleet operators across the United Kingdom, Koneta said. The engineered guard saves up to 3.8% in fuel, with a 43% improvement in spray reduction against “best available technology,” according to John Kepler, Koneta president.
The guards utilize traditional mud flap brackets on both tractor and trailer installation and work as a system to direct airflow under the vehicle. By channeling this undercurrent, drag reduction is measurably enhanced, and the flow dynamics predominantly channel the spray through the engineered air/water separation capabilities of the guard, the maker stated.
