“The VIS Nitro system automates air purge, nitrogen fill, and nitrogen top-ups,” Fuller said. “All the technician needs to do is clip the four chucks on, set the pressure and walk away. The machine beeps when it’s done, making the operation completely hands-off.
The VIS-Nitro system, VIS-Nitro and VIS-Nitro Plus, generate nitrogen by removing oxygen, water vapor, and other gases from a compressed air supply, the company said. Nitrogen is then piped to the receiver tank where it is stored for tire inflation. The system vents other harmless gases, mostly oxygen, to the atmosphere.
The VIS-Nitro system uses premium separation membranes to produce more than one gallon of nitrogen for each 2 gallons of air it takes in, the company said. It also has two pneumatic circuits that improve nitrogen purity and reduce air consumption. The system is designed to use less air to produce more nitrogen than other nitrogen generators on the market. Most nitrogen generators operate at less than 50 percent efficiency, which means they take in more air to generate the same amount of nitrogen, the company said. VIS-Nitro can also achieve a higher purity with the nitrogen it produces through its series of premium pre-filters, the company said. Operators can adjust the purity of nitrogen from compressed air from 95 percent to 99 percent. The three pre-filters and large carbon bed that come with the system require annual replacement.
The VIS-Nitro system uses a 120-gallon receiver tank. That ensures the system can supply simultaneous inflation of multiple truck tires at once, the company said. The system also comes with an automatic inflation controller that measures and adjusts pressure within the tire until it is within .5 psi of a target pressure.
