Nokian Tyres has announced that a new R&D center will be constructed in Nokia, Finland.
According to the company, the R&D center will start construction in 2019 and will accelerate the testing phase of new tire models. The new 37,000-sq. ft. R&D Center is part of the company’s plan for a substantial production capacity increase. Last year, Nokian Heavy Tyres Ltd. began a three-year R&D and production investment of approximately $80 million and 50% production capacity growth target.
“The center will be filled with modern machinery,” said Matti Kaunisto, Nokian Heavy Tyres development manager. “We can triple the number of tires tested and test more variables to serve our OEM clients with the highest standards.”
