New super wide drive tire from Michelin

Michelin says its new X One XDA Energy tire is the most fuel-efficient drive tire vs. the leading North American competitors, and can help truck fleets save at least 7% in annual fuel costs when used with Michelin XZA3 steer tires and X One XTA trailer tires. The X One XDA Energy tire features innovative belt designs and advanced technology compounds, as well as Infini-Coil technology, in which more than a quarter-of-a-mile of steel cord is wrapped circumferentially around the crown of the tire, Michelin said. Matrix Siping Technology helps provide traction on dry and slippery surfaces, while three-dimensional matrix sipes lock together for the stability normally associated with solid tread blocks. The tire is available in size 445/50R22.5, and will replace the Michelin X One XDA tire.

Michelin offers X One retread for refuse, urban applications

Michelin Retread Technologies has expanded its retread offering for its X One wide single truck tires by introducing the Michelin X One XZU S pre-mold retread. The new retread will enable refuse fleets and other urban, high-scrub or regional application vehicles to realize the benefits of both a retread and a wide single tire, according to the tire maker.

The new pre-mold retread is now available in a 390/430 tread size (tread widths with two measurements have wings–the first number is the tread base width in mm; the second number is the overall width, wing tip-to-tip).

Michelin said the retread is designed for long tread life and outstanding scrub resistance with 23/32 in original tread depth of an application-specific compound.

Michelin adds new Antisplash truck tire

With the patented Antisplash deflector on both of the tire’s sidewalls, the new Michelin XZA3 Antisplash tire helps make highways safer by lowering the trajectory of water spraying from the tires, the company said. Lower splash trajectory means less water on windshields, significantly improving overall visibility in heavy rain for oncoming and overtaking motorists, as well as truck drivers.
