Celebrating the 10th year of its X One super wide truck tires, Michelin North America is introducing the Michelin X One XDA Energy tire.
Announced to the public this week at MATS, Michelin said independent tests show Michelin super wide tires are at least 7% more fuel efficient than top competitors’ most fuel-efficient tires.
“For long-haul truck fleet managers and owner-operators still sitting on the fence about wide-single tires, now is the time to make the switch from traditional duals,” said Don Baldwin, product marketing manager for Michelin Americas Truck Tires. “The X One XDA Energy tire is the most fuel-efficient drive tire vs. the leading North American competitors, and can help truck fleets save at least 7% in annual fuel costs when used with Michelin XZA3 steer tires and X One XTA trailer tires.”
The X One XDA Energy tire is more fuel-efficient, Michelin said, “thanks to innovative belt designs and Advanced Technology compounds” and its Infini-Coil technology, in which more than a quarter-of-a-mile of steel cord is wrapped circumferentially around the crown of the tire.
In addition, Michelin said, “Matrix Siping Technology helps provide exceptional traction on dry and slippery surfaces. The three-dimensional Matrix sipes lock together for the stability normally associated with solid tread blocks.”
The X One XDA Energy tire is available in size 445/50R22.5, and will replace the Michelin X One XDA tire.
