PTG Logistics equips entire fleet with PeopleNet technology

By the end of February, PTG Logistics plans to have PeopleNet installed in all of its vehicles. The company's fleet of tractors and refrigerated, dry and flatbed vehicles will be equipped with PeopleNet's Automatic Vehicle Location and Vehicle Management applications.

PeopleNet announced that Ohio-based contract carrier PTG Logistics is installing PeopleNet technology in its entire fleet.

PTG Logistics President Roger Welling said, “We based our decision to adopt PeopleNet technology because of the wealth of information it provides and efficiencies driven by automation. Safety is our number one concern, and electronic logs will help us exceed our Compliance Safety Accountability goals; messaging will help us comply with the ban on cell phone use while providing two-way driver communication. In addition, the system provides critical driver and vehicle information that leads to performance improvement, including miles per gallon. We’re counting on the Automated Workflow application for a 10% savings in administrative overhead since the system will allow us to grow our fleet without an additional administrator. Our customers will have direct access to their dedicated vehicles’ actual vs. planned schedules so they can run more efficiently, as well.”
