Rostra Precision Controls Inc. offers its RearSight camera system for the Dodge Sprinter Van.
RearSight provides drivers with a 150-degree wide-angle view from the rear of the vehicle to help the driver avoid objects that are in the vehicle’s blind spots and identify items that are much closer to the ground than an ultrasonic product can detect, the company said.
“More than one-fourth of automobile accidents occur when a vehicle is in reverse,” said Sibyl Ringsdorf, manager of marketing and national accounts for Rostra. “RearSight helps reduce these accidents, which helps fleet operators keep their insurance and operating costs down.”
The Dodge Sprinter Van RearSight (#250-8013) features a waterproof, CCD color image camera that is installed on top of the van, above the rear doors, with either of the two shrouds included in the kit. Inside the cabin, the system uses a 3.5-inch TFT-LCD monitor that mounts to the headliner with a special mounting stem and bracket.
RearSight is built for straight trucks in Class 3 – 7 fleet applications, including local delivery trucks, utility vehicles, cargo vans, municipal fleets, private equipment and any other vehicle with reduced rear visibility. RearSight also is applicable to vehicles that have equipment extending from the rear, like generator decks, buckets and booms, the company said.
The Dodge Sprinter Van RearSight can be installed in 30 minutes, the company said. The kit comes with a hardware pack with universal applications for other cargo vans.
