The Dana Spicer D-2000F fully-dressed steer axle family is now available with both a 3.5- and 5-inch drop beam, providing chassis and suspension profile height options required by fire and rescue applications.
“Fire and rescue vehicle manufacturers represent a key customer segment for Dana, and the Spicer D-2000F 5-inch drop beam option meets the fit-up requirements for a large part of this market,” said Mark Davis, product manager – steer axles for Dana’s Commercial Vehicle Systems. “By meeting this challenge, this fully-dressed steer axle family provides another example of Dana’s commitment to providing our customers with the technology and systems they need and expect.”
According to Dana, the Spicer D-2000F steer axle family has additional features that meet the requirements of this specialty market. The axle provides high turn angles of up to 50 degrees, providing the maneuverability necessary in this demanding application, the company said. Axle ratings of 16,000 to 22,000 pounds gross axle weight rating (GAWR) better meet the performance demands of fire truck manufacturers. The steer axle’s available tie rod geometry options improve tire life for a wide range of wheelbases and allow fit-up of popular wheels. In addition, the D-2000F steer axle is compatible with both air disc and air drum brakes.
The Spicer D-2000F steer axle is available as a fully-dressed axle system. An example of a typical dressed steer axle may include: Spicer D-2000F 5-inch drop beam steer axle; Bendix ADB22XTM air disc brakes; Spicer LMSTM hubs; and Spicer LMSTM hubcaps.
