Nearly every time I talk with people about sustainability, I ask: Is this time different? Years ago we saw the growth of “going green,” which carried a hefty price tag for environmentally conscious decisions. The difference this time around isn’t just the improvement in electrification technology—it’s the attention sustainability is receiving throughout society. Transportation operations of all sizes are starting to get serious about sustainability. Yet while electric truck orders are open across the board from many truck OEMs, the fact is that the majority of fleets (especially on-highway, long-haul applications) will be operating diesel for the near future.
So what can you do to make diesel operation more sustainable?
I know, there are a lot of questions here. So I connected with Chris Schmale, senior fuels sales development at the Renewable Energy Group (REG) for answers. We talk about the overall sustainability climate and what diesel fleets can do today to become more sustainable with existing equipment. Watch the video above for all of the insight.
