Haldex warns against imitation HCVs

Haldex, maker of height control valves (HCVs) for truck and trailer air suspension, warned that imitation height control valves have been designed to appear to be the same as genuine Haldex height control valves in order to lead you to believe that they’ll perform the same. However, they don’t match Haldex in the critical areas of function, durability and quality, the company said. Imitation valves typically exhibit large dead bands, inconsistent time delays, intermittent operation, excessive leakage and are highly susceptible to temperature variations, Haldex continued.

Fontaine introduces lightweight fifth wheel

Fontaine Fifth Wheel introduced a new, lightweight fifth wheel slider system. The company said the compact Fontaine Ultra LT is as light as an aluminum fifth wheel, with the additional strength, durability and cost-effectiveness provided by its formed steel top plate construction.

The new fifth wheel offers weight savings of up to 100 lbs. or more over other fifth wheel systems, which can help offset heavy 2010 emission system components and improve fuel economy, the company added.

For use in on-highway applications only, including highway tanker operations, the Ultra LT is offered as a complete system that includes the top plate and one of a variety of mounting configurations, including compact inboard and outboard slide assemblies and a stationary mount, Fontaine noted.

Safety Pumping Systems announces the Chassis Grabber

Safety Pumping Systems (SPS) has announced the commercial availability of the Chassis Grabber Mounting System for installing any type of equipment to truck frames without drilling holes. The mounting system requires no tools other than a common pneumatic impact wrench and installs in minutes, the maker said.

Dana Holding Corp. has launched the Spicer S140 series, a new family of single-drive, medium-duty axles. Now available, the new axles replace all previous 17,000 lb. to 19,000-lb. Spicer drive axles and are available for all makes and models of straight truck chassis up to 19,000-lb. gross axle weight rating (GAWR), the company said.

Hendrickson’s HTB LT rear air suspension now available on the International ProStar

According to Hendrickson Truck Suspension Systems, its weight saving HTB LT rear air suspension is now available on International ProStar trucks. A lightweight, non-torque reactive rear air suspension, HTB LT delivers the additional advantages of smooth ride and low maintenance and weighs in as the lightest suspension in its class, saving up to 263 lbs. compared to industry standard 40,000 lb. suspensions.

Hendrickson’s Steertek named the standard front steer axle on International ProStar and TranStar truck models

Hendrickson Truck Suspension Systems officials announced the Steertek front steer axle is now standard on International ProStar and TranStar vehicle models. Based on proprietary design and manufacturing technology, the axle’s fabricated design saves up to 27 lbs. compared to traditional I-beam axles, the maker said.

It also features SwingAlign for fast and convenient axle alignment and cast beam trailing arm construction for optimal strength and weight reduction, its maker said.
