Doran 360 TPMS integrates with Omnitracs

Tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) provider Doran Manufacturing has announced the integration of its Doran 360 TPMS with the Omnitracs Mobile Computing Platforms MCP50, MCP110 and MCP200. The project, according to the company, provides a user interface for drivers and access to tire pressure data and low pressure alarms for fleet managers to use to help control tire repair and maintenance costs.

“Over the past six years, we have had a wide variety of fleets complete successful trials and implement the Doran 360 tire pressure monitoring system based on the economic benefits associated with reducing tire related repair and maintenance costs,” said Doran’s general manager, Jim Samocki. “This integration with Omnitracs will improve the cost savings impact of TPMS and enable tire pressure data and low pressure alarms to be transmitted off the truck to minimize the dependence on the driver to resolve the issue, avoid costly road side repairs and improve the effectiveness of the tire repair and maintenance program for fleets.”

In addition to the graphical tire health indicator on the driver interface of the MCP200, MCP110 and MCP50, integration of Doran’s TPMS with Omnitracs new Tire Pressure Monitoring application will help fleets proactively manage tire issues that develop from low tire pressures and will help to reduce maintenance costs by periodically transmitting previously unavailable tire status updates along with displaying useful data and graphs in host software, noted Vikas Jain, vice president of product and program management and software as a service at Omnitracs. “The integration of Doran’s solution with our application will also support web services integration with third-party software,” he added.

Doran 360 tire pressure monitoring systems are designed for fleets of all sizes and equipment configurations, including drop and hook operations. Programming, installation and connection to the J1939 CAN bus can be accomplished without any special tools, in less than an hour, the company said. Additionally, the system’s nylon, valve-stem mounted sensors, with potting material inside, have passed SAE tests for corrosion resistance by an independent accredited testing facility.
