Dr. Barry Southward, director of technology for AP Emissions, says that the recent advancements in OEM aftertreatment systems has translated to aftermarket designs as well.
“There has been so much excellent work in the field of emissions control, which we are able to directly tap into and significantly enhance the quality, performance and durability of our product line,” Southward says.
Southward points to AP Emissions’ “AWESME” DPF. He says that the design of this DPF built on the many years of real-world experience for DPFs, leading to comparable performance to OEM parts with more efficient usage of platinum group metals (PGM).
“The decreased requirement for active regeneration provides our customers with decreased fuel penalty and overall increased fuel economy benefits,” he continues. “Decreasing regeneration requirements will also result in decreased oil dilution and hence maintain optimum engine lubrication at minimized oil use. It also enables decreased ash generation (accumulation in the DPF) and extended DPF operation between cleaning and ash removal cycles to minimize vehicle downtime. The Durafit brand provides OEM-grade backpressure response, fresh and during soot accumulation, due to our use of OEM-grade substrates, materials and washcoating process to maximize vehicle performance, fuel economy and end user experience.”
