Detailing automated manual transmission options by truck application

How do you spec the right transmission hardware and outfit it with the proper software?

Six years ago, automated manual transmissions (AMTs) were just starting to become the majority in OEM builds. Today, they’re almost a given spec, but that’s not to say it’s a one-size-fits-all solution. AMT capabilities have evolved drastically with the availability of crawler gears, severe-duty options and advanced software packages that can gear the transmission to your specific application.

So how do you spec the right hardware and outfit it with the proper software? Ashley Murickan, product marketing manager with Volvo Trucks North America, has a few ideas. I connected with Ashley to detail the options and talk truck AMT applications. Watch the video above for all of the insight.
