Shell introduces new telematics solution for fleet management

Shell Oil Products U.S. has launched Shell Telematics, a product that Shell says uses the latest tracking technology to turn data into actionable insights that can help fleet owners run their business more efficiently.

The company says Shell Telematics integrates fuel card data with data generated by a fleet’s vehicles to provide increased visibility into driver behavior and vehicle performance. This data is processed and delivered to fleet owners to increase security, safety and productivity, as well as to position the business to be competitive in the future, the company says. The increased visibility into day-to-operations also supports environmental sustainability by cutting down on vehicle emissions, Shell adds.

Shell says key highlights of the service include:

  • With a satellite map view, Google Street View and traffic information, users can track the location and movement of all vehicles to proactively intervene and increase vehicle availability
  • Journey history offers access to all routes made, including details such as date, time, start and finish locations, drivetime and distance traveled
  • Insight into driver performance based on the length and severity of the speeding, acceleration, idling time and braking events can be used to reduce costs and CO2 emissions, and incentivize improved driving skills
  • Shell Telematics is certified with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) for fleets subjects to ELD compliance.
