Averitt, Platform Science introduce Virtual Vehicle device management solution

The Virtual Vehicle platform acts as the operating layer through which any application can collaborate with another.

Averitt and Platform Science announced a partnership to roll out Platform Science’s Virtual Vehicle to Avertitt’s fleet. Averitt will deploy the Virtual Vehicle platform – which acts as the operating layer through which any application can collaborate with another – to more than 5,000 trucks.

The companies say that through the open platform, Averitt can craft its own solution set, and connect their Averitt Drive app to their other platform apps, enabling services like SSO and shared mobile identity.

Tim Saylor, vice president for information services at Averitt, stated that the Virtual Vehicle offers significant flexibility and has the ability to make changes to fleet’s overall service, ranging from minor adjustments to complete replacement of specific applications. This can be done without the necessity to modify coding, compromise the user experience, or impact the physical trucks themselves, he added.
