Carrier Transicold’s newest reefers offer ‘best’ warranty

Carrier Transicold introduced two new models in its X2 series of trailer refrigeration units, the 2500 APX and 2100 APX, which the company said both feature the innovative APX control system as well as the industry's most comprehensive warranty. The warranty for 2500 APX and 2100 APX units includes 60-month/10,000-hour coverage for the microprocessor module.

Carrier Transicold has introduced two new models in its X2 series of trailer refrigeration units, the 2500 APX and 2100 APX, which the company said both feature the innovative APX control system as well as the industry’s most comprehensive warranty.

“The 2500 APX and 2100 APX single-temperature trailer units raise the bar for transport refrigeration by taking advantage of Carrier’s innovative new APX control system,” said David Kiefer, director of marketing and product management, Carrier Transicold.

With the APX control system, Carrier Transicold said it has combined: distributed, modular electronics for enhanced reliability, serviceability and expandability; an easy-to-use driver interface with bright graphic display; and USB connectivity for fast, convenient data transfers. One of the APX control system’s signature features is its relatively large display module with an illuminated information dashboard and simplified user interface that, with fewer keystrokes, displays five times the information of competitive equipment, the maker said. The new refrigeration units also are the first from Carrier Transicold to offer the IntelliSet control application as a standard feature.

“Part of Carrier’s exclusive Reefer Apps software suite, the IntelliSet application is a driver-friendly way to configure a unit to run for optimized performance and fuel savings based on the load,” Kiefer explained. “With set-and-select simplicity, the IntelliSet application lets drivers choose commodity settings by name from a scrolling list, helping to eliminate the chance of errors.”

According to the company, the warranty for 2500 APX and 2100 APX units includes 60-month/10,000-hour coverage for the microprocessor module – one year longer than its competitors. The 60-month warranty also covers electronic control modules and the clutch assembly. Major component coverage improves on Carrier’s standard X2 series warranty by one year, providing 48-month/8,000-hour protection for the engine, compressor, gearbox, refrigeration coils, suction modulation valve, control display, fan shaft, solenoid valves and more. Carrier added its 48-month warranty also includes many items that competitors cover for only one year, such as the engine fuel system and refrigeration valves. The alternator warranty on APX units has also been doubled, relative to other Carrier and competitive models, to 24 months.
