Haldex cartridge aims to improve drying capabilities

Haldex recently announced that the new Multi-Treatment Cartridge Plus (MTC+) will soon be offered as standard on all Haldex DRYest and PURest Air Dryers.

Haldex recently announced that the new Multi-Treatment Cartridge Plus (MTC+) will soon be offered as standard on all Haldex DRYest and PURest Air Dryers.

The coalescent filter on the outlet passage of the patented MTC+ removes 40 percent more of the fine oil and hydrocarbon particles from the air brake system than competitive air drying cartridges, the company said. Once the air has passed through the desiccant bed of the cartridge, the coalescent filter removes the oil particles remaining in the air stream.

At the same time, the MTC+ removes more than 99 percent of contaminants from the air brake system, effectively eliminating oil while still maintaining its high adsorption capability, the company said. Using a five-stage process to deliver the driest, cleanest air, the MTC+ provides the highest drying efficiency on the market with up to three times the drying capacity of competitive air dryers, the company said.

This drying capacity does not impede air flow, the company said. By preventing oil contaminants from building up in the air system reservoir, the MTC+ ensures adequate air volume is available for air brake system components downstream of the air dryer. This reduces corrosion and freezing problems caused by inadequate air flow, and reduces the opportunities for oil contaminants to migrate to the air valves and other brake components.

Superior drying capacity, contaminant reduction and desiccant efficiency allow the MTC+ cartridge to last longer, resulting in lower life cycle cost for the Haldex dryer on a vehicle, the company said. There are no hard-to-remove, spin-on cartridges where seizing can become a problem. Instead, a 4-bolt slide-in and –out design allows for quick replacement of the cartridge while the air dryer is still on the vehicle.

Available on all new Haldex DRYest and PURest Air Dryers, the MTC+ will fit directly in the applications of the MTC with no modifications necessary to DRYest and PURest Air Dryers already in operation.
