HDDA: Heavy Duty, the community of the Auto Care Association that is dedicated to the advancement of the heavy-duty aftermarket, has sponsored a study conducted by Pricedex Software on the feasibility of developing product information standards for heavy duty vehicles. The study, which included participation from HD experts from all facets of the industry, indicates that there is an opportunity to create a “superset” of data that will streamline product information communication for an industry currently using multiple data management methods.
“The study is the result of years of requests from the industry itself to investigate whether a parts data standard could be developed,” said Bill Hanvey, president and chief executive officer of the Auto Care Association. “This is a critical step forward for the heavy-duty industry. The study shows there is a great opportunity to provide a parts data standard for heavy-duty products that will result in making the industry more efficient.”
