Ken-Tool, a maker of tire-service tools, has announced the Nineteen-Five, a tire mounting and demounting tool set it said is designed to make changing 19.5-in. truck tires easier and safer.
This specially designed tool set is designed to take the hassle out of changing 19.5-in. truck tires, which are notoriously difficult to mount and demount due to their thick beads and high ply-rating internal construction, Ken-Tool said.
This year, 19.5-in. truck tires have accounted for more than 8% of new OE vehicle fitments and 10% of all OE replacement commercial truck tires sold, the toolmaker noted.
The Nineteen-Five set (P/N 33195) includes:
• Two (2) Nineteen-Five bars (P/N 33199) for mounting and demounting tires, measuring 38-in. each in length and only 3.5-lbs. in weight
• One (1) bead holder (P/N 33196) for 19.5-in. aluminum wheels, measuring 7.5-in. in length
• One (1) solid brass bead holder (P/N 31710) for steel wheels
• One (1) patent-leather aluminum wheel protector pad (P/N 31810), which protects rims from marring and scratching
The tire bars are designed to work on the hub-side of the wheel where the hub protrudes above the wheel’s rim. The tip designs at the end of the bars aid in the manipulation of the tire and require less physical effort from the tire technician, the company added.
The Nineteen-Five tools and bead holder for aluminum wheels are forged from high-grade carbon steel and are heat-treated for long-lasting strength and durability. The maker said they are then powder-coated to protect against rust and corrosion for a long, trouble-free life.
