Wisconsin’s Kriete Truck Centers achieves electric truck certification

Volvo, Mack Trucks designed its EV Dealer program to ensure technicians understand the proper safety procedures when servicing electric drivetrains and components.

Wisconsin-based commercial truck and equipment dealer Kriete Truck Centers announced that it has completed the training and facility upgrades required to become the first Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks Certified Electric Vehicle (EV) dealer in the state.

Kriete currently operates 10 locations across Wisconsin, and according to the press release, its Madison location was selected as the first to be EV certified with similar plans in the works for other locations, including its original dealership in Milwaukee.

Volvo and Mack Trucks say they designed its Certified EV Dealer program to ensure technicians understand the proper safety procedures when servicing electric drivetrains and components, the companies note. At its Madison location, Kriete notes that it will have four technicians certified to work on the Volvo VNR and Mack LRe and MDe electric trucks, all outfitted with the personal protective equipment necessary to work with high-voltage systems.

Kriete Madison has outfitted a dedicated service bay with the equipment needed to safely perform battery-electric truck maintenance and repairs. According to the press release, Kriete will also maintain a stock of key parts and components for the Volvo and Mack electric models to minimize service times and get customers back on the road.
