A new transmission fluid for its mDrive automated manual transmission has been introduced by Mack Trucks. Bulldog mDrive Transmission Fluid SAE 75W-80 is a fully synthetic, heavy-duty transmission lubricant formulated to meet Transmission Fluid 97318 specification.

Key benefits of Bulldog mDrive Transmission Fluid, according to the OEM, include a 75W-80 viscosity grade that helps maintain fuel economy through reduced viscous churn, smoother gear meshing and easier pumping and filtering, and a high viscosity index that allows for low-temperature fluidity for quicker starts, easy shifts and reduced wear during cold start-ups while also providing strong lubricating films at higher temperatures.

In addition, the transmission fluid has shear stability that maintains effective viscosity and film strength for better wear protection during severe operation. Mack also notes that its thermal durability and oxidation resistance protect against deposit formation and contribute to seal life and extended oil drain of up to 500,000 miles. Furthermore, the OEM says the transmission fluid has stable, optimized friction properties that promote smooth and rapid gear shifting, which can reduce stress on the driveline and tires.

Bulldog mDrive Transmission Fluid SAE 75W-80 is available in five-gallon pails and four, one-gallon jugs.
