Meritor adds new clutches to aftermarket solutions portfolio

Meritor introduced its line of 14-in. and 15.5-in. clutches in standard and easy-pedal effort models, designed for medium- and heavy-duty trucks. Both models are available under the company's Euclid brand through North American distribution centers.

In order to further expand its complete solutions offering to aftermarket customers, Meritor Inc. said it has unveiled its line of 14-in. and 15.5-in. clutches in standard and easy-pedal effort models, designed for medium- and heavy-duty trucks. Both models will be available under the company’s Euclid brand through North American distribution centers.

Truck operators can purchase the new clutches from warehouse distributors stocking Euclid parts. The clutches offer end-users a 24-month, unlimited mileage warranty against defects in material and workmanship.

“Truck operators of all sizes want a complete solution for drivetrain and braking systems,” said Craig Cartmill, vice president, Aftermarket Americas, Meritor. “Our new Euclid clutches are reliable, dependable and long-lasting. These characteristics are what customers demand and our products are designed to exceed those expectations.”

Unique to these Euclid clutch offerings from Meritor are:
• VelveTouch ceramic clutch buttons
• An easy adjuster permitting fast, single-motion adjustment (standard on all 15.5-in. easy pedal effort models)
• All disc springs are treated with a cryogenic process, extending disc spring life
• A sealed throw-out bearing for increased lubrication intervals and longer clutch life

The clutches are manufactured new, so no core charge or core handling expense exists, the maker added. The 15.5-in. clutch assemblies are available with seven-, eight-, nine- and 10-spring disc designs with torque ratings from 1,250 to 2,050 ft.-lbs. and the Euclid 14-in. clutch assemblies are available with torque ratings from 620 to 1,400 ft.-lbs.
