OTC introduces new HD Scan for mixed fleets

OTC, a business unit of SPX Corp., has introduced its new HD Scan (P/N 3417) designed to provide fleet owners and professional automotive technicians who service Class 1 to Class 8 passenger cars and trucks, with a cost-effective heavy-duty standard software and Global OBD-II testing solution that makes interpreting heavy-duty diagnostic data a lot more clear and accessible, while adding advanced graphing and automatic recording capabilities into a large color display scan tool.

OTC-HD-ScanOTC, a business unit of SPX Corp., has introduced its new HD Scan (P/N 3417) designed to provide fleet owners and professional automotive technicians who service Class 1 to Class 8 passenger cars and trucks, with a cost-effective heavy-duty standard software and Global OBD-II testing solution that makes interpreting heavy-duty diagnostic data a lot more clear and accessible, while adding advanced graphing and automatic recording capabilities into a large color display scan tool.

“OTC has advanced its diagnostics leadership in the heavy-duty truck and off road equipment market with the successful introduction of a new, stand-alone heavy-duty scan tool,” said Ed Lipscomb, OTC senior product manager, diagnostic systems. “For heavy-duty shops that need a second tool in the service bay or for their mobile repair trucks, the HD Scan from OTC provides affordable access to a wide range of diagnostic features, such as Heavy Duty Standard system coverage capabilities, Global OBD-II test modes, real-time data monitoring, with on-the-fly fault code retrieval and data stream on the latest light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles.”

According to OTC, built upon the legacy of the popular Genisys scan tool technology, the HD Scan supports most truck OEM and heavy component manufacturers’ product lines and comes fully equipped with existing Genisys software titles including Heavy-Duty Standard Software for Class 4 to Class 8 trucks and Global OBD-II coverage for light truck and passenger car applications.

The unit provides technicians access to all nine OBD-II test modes, increasing the technician’s ability to accurately identify the toughest OBD-II diagnostic problems on all 1996 and newer OBD-II compliant systems, the company said. It supports SAE J1587, J1708 and J1939 protocol standards on the latest medium and heavy-duty vehicles — as well as CAN, engine, and transmission/ABS diagnostics.

Featuring a new black-over-mold finish enclosure, the unit is conveniently packaged in a kit configuration that contains the HD Scan tool with Operations Manual, 6-pin and 9-pin Deutsch Cable, OBD-II Cable, USB Cable, free ScanMate PC Software, and a three-year warranty. With ScanMate, technicians can upload and play back recordings, print reports, and export captured data in spreadsheet format, get Internet updates, email and share data recordings, and view data in line graph, bar graph, meter, digital or superimposed formats.
