OTC introduces three new composite bearing race and seal driver kits

OTC, an SPX Brand, has released three new Stinger bearing race and seal driver kits (P/N 4408; P/N 4409; P/N 4507) that are said to simplify the installation of tapered bearing races and seals on vehicle applications without causing damage to the component or housing. Consisting of various size discs and drive handles, the kits are designed to fit precise manufacturing diameters in order to give technicians the versatility needed for the job, while offering mechanical strength and durability.

“Using these tools will eliminate damage to the bearings and seals, assuring proper functionality and a quality repair,” said OTC product manager Robert Kochie. “The tapered side of the driver is used to install races, and invert the driver to the flat side to install seals.”

The 4408 Stinger Kit includes an aluminum drive handle and six heavy-duty, composite bearing and seal drivers to fit most standard wheel bearings ranging from 1.555 to 3.189 in. The drivers have different diameters in order to match different-sized bearings, and three of the drivers are formed with two different diameters. Weighing 2 lbs., 4 oz., the 4408 kit is lightweight and packaged in a rugged blow-mold case for easy storage.

Specifically designed for installing new bearings in the rear drive axle, and on the front drive axle if the vehicle is four-wheel-drive, the new 4409 Stinger Truck Pinion Bearing Race Driver Set consists of eight popular bearing and seal drivers ranging from 2.687 to 4.5 in. The extension handle included in this kit permits the user to reach deep into the differential case and properly strike the handle to drive in the race; and the knurled handles offer extra grip with oily hands for safer and faster operation. A pneumatic drive adapter is also included for use with an air hammer, and can be used interchangeably with the drive handle extension.

The 4507 Stinger Bearing Race & Seal Driver Set provides technicians a way to contact the upper, inner edge of the bearing so that force can be evenly and quickly applied ensuring quick and easy assembly. The kit contains a driver handle plus nine popular sizes ranging from 1.555 to 3.189 in. The 4507 kit is designed to fit precise manufacturing diameters, thus eliminating the need to purchase specific discs to add to existing kits.
