OTC, an SPX brand, has released its new 11-Piece Trim Tool Kit (P/N 6642), an ergonomically designed specialty set that includes all of the necessary tools to remove trim strips, panels, wheels caps, bezels, liners, shrouds, fascia, and much more, in one easy-to-use kit. The OTC 6642 kit includes 11 different sizes and styles of tools that are designed to serve hundreds of applications on any vehicle make and model.

“Every technician knows how fragile and delicate bezels, and trim piece removal can be especially considering the improvements in dashboard, paint and body finishes we’ve seen in vehicles on the road today,” said Dirk Skogerboe, aftermarket product manager, specialty tools. “Designed to make this often-delicate task more appealing, the OTC 11-Piece Trim Tool Kit is the answer to working smarter, not harder, by allowing technicians to perform damage-free parts removal even faster while increasing capabilities and efficiencies in the shop.”

A must have where effective, non-marring leverage is required, this versatile kit is safe for handling delicate plastic or composite materials such as door trims, dash and trim panels, scuttle clips, shrouding, wire looms, moldings and badges.

According to the maker, the distinct trim tips and precision curvatures offer a multitude of features and repair technique options, the maker said. The tapered tip allows entry under closely fitted parts and can reach below the deepest of dashboards, and the radius edge are ideal for removing encapsulated moldings in a variety of shapes and sizes without damage to paintwork or encapsulation.

The V groove tips and special bend assist in the removal of clips, scuttles and interior trims and fittings held by clips, avoiding damage to the vehicle components. The small V groove tip is designed to slip under the head of small clips to remove interior trim and fittings, molding, and emblems, allowing the operator to pry the clip out of the hole or vehicle panel.

The tools are constructed of durable, impact-resistant nylon that will not damage non-metal interior surfaces and will not scratch vehicle paint like similar metal panel removal tools, according to OTC. Housed in a cloth pouch, the 6642 kit can rest flat on a dashboard or fender for easy access to tools and then folds up with tools inside for convenient storage.
