SAF-Holland’s Director of Field Service Rob Nissen has been recognized with the Technology & Maintenance Council Silver Spark Plug award.
“The Silver Spark Plug recognizes individuals in our industry who are making outstanding contributions to the improvement of equipment, maintenance, industry-related technology and management practices,” said Carl Kirk, ATA vice president of maintenance, information technology & logistics and TMC executive director.
A TMC member since 1993, Nissen has been active in the S.6 Chassis and Brake Systems and S.7 Trailers, Bodies and Material Handling Study Groups, chairing numerous task forces and serving as a moderator or panelist for technical sessions. He has assisted in the development of several TMC recommended practices on topics including proper fifth-wheel installation, wheel-end maintenance, safety chain maintenance, draw bar maintenance, pintle hook maintenance, upper coupler and kingpin maintenance, air ride maintenance, rear suspension inspection, ride height adjustment, trailer axle maintenance, and hooking up double trailers. He also serves on the Mentor and Member Contact Committees and is a judge for the TMCSuperTech competition.
To receive the Silver Spark Plug, a TMC full or associate member must demonstrate five years active service TMC leadership and/or activities, earn the respect of his peers, demonstrate clear industry leadership, and contribute new ideas, practices, or innovations in the management and maintenance of commercial motor vehicles for the improvement of equipment, its maintenance and maintenance management, TMC said.
As director of field service for SAF-Holland, Nissen manages six regional service managers and one corporate trainer.
