SKF training trucks visit more than 100,000 technicians across North America

Since their launch in 2010, training trucks from SKF have provided educational programs to more than 100,000 heavy-duty and automotive technicians across North America.

The SKF training truck programs covers failure analysis, proper removal and installation techniques, as well as drivetrain, engine and wheel end maintenance practices. SKF developed this program for specific markets. Three trucks are dedicated to the automotive aftermarket, and are manned by ASE Master-Certified Technicians. The additional three trucks are dedicated to the heavy-duty aftermarket and are manned by SKF’s dedicated sales force, who have received product and technical training. The heavy-duty training truck program includes SKF’s TFO (Trouble Free Operation) program, a systems approach to heavy-duty maintenance.

The six dedicated training trucks feature detailed product cutaways and interactive vehicle system assemblies, and a large-screen monitor for showing technical tip and product videos. In addition, the trucks’ displays are designed to show the differences between SKF and value line products. Additionally, each truck is outfitted to highlight SKF online training capabilities, including an active Twitter page and a YouTube channel – just check out one of the cool videos like this one:

SKF launched its training truck program to create a one-on-one educational experience. “The SKF training trucks are designed to not only showcase SKF products, but to educate automotive and heavy-duty technicians about how to successfully install SKF products,” says Pete Kaftantzis, technical training supervisor. “By delivering knowledge through the training trucks, we are helping technicians perform proper maintenance and repair practices.”
