Thermo King offers new refrigeration unit

Thermo King Corp. introduced the MD-100 refrigeration unit for trucks.

Thermo King Corp. introduced the MD-100 refrigeration unit for trucks. The company said the MD-100’s sleek, stylish and innovative design offers increased reliability and performance while reducing fuel and maintenance costs. “With growing concerns about rising fuel costs, as well as noise and exhaust emissions, the MD-100 can help solve these problems,” said Tim Ryan, director, truck product management.

Thermo King’s MD-100 utilizes the TK 370 three-cylinder liquid-cooled diesel engine to optimize both power and fuel-savings performance. “This is the cleanest burning, most fuel-efficient engine available,” said Ryan. “The TK 370 engine meets all EPA requirements and the unit’s low-decibel sound reduction system allows for quieter unit operation.”

According to the company, the MD-100 provides other cost-saving features, like the advanced microprocessor, the Smart Reefer Controller. The controller’s simplified keypad design makes it easy for operators to maintain ideal conditions and monitor system performance, thereby increasing load protection while reducing fuel consumption and unit downtime, the company said. The Smart Reefer also features an exclusive TherMax system to provide faster defrost and superior heating capacity, and two belt-driven dual evaporator fans to deliver superior airflow, the company said. “Our high-output fans allow faster box temperature pull-downs, minimal temperature fluctuations and virtual elimination of hot spots and short cycling,” said Ryan.

Thermo King’s Cycle-Sentry technology stops the unit’s engine when refrigeration is not needed and restarts it when refrigeration or battery charge is necessary, to increase component life and provide additional fuel savings of up to 85 percent, the company said. The MD-100 also comes standard equipped with Thermo King’s EMI-2000 filter and fluids package for extended maintenance intervals and reduced operating costs.

These units come standard with a comprehensive two-year warranty package to reduce maintenance costs, the maker said. Also included is Thermo King SVC’s Thermo Gard Bronze preventive maintenance and inspection program, providing coverage for interim inspections and preventive maintenance service. Service and support are provided by Thermo King’s dealer network of more than 200 factory authorized service centers nationwide.
