Triangle Suspension Systems announced the completion of vehicle testing and availability of its new, lightweight replacement for the Mack camelback leaf spring. The product provides fleets with a savings of approximately 216 lbs. per vehicle without sacrificing performance, the maker said.
According to the company, the replacement spring was field tested for nearly 10 months on a variety of vehicles including front- and rear-loading refuse trucks, roll-offs and dump trucks. “Feedback from the drivers and installers has been positive,” said Triangle President Rick Kempski. “The spring has performed equal to or better than the standard spring in terms of load carrying, ride and stability.”
Jack Griffin, Triangle director of engineering, added that installers also appreciated how the lighter springs reduced fatigue and the potential for lost time due to muscle strains. “Since the new spring was designed to mate with all existing components and only a shorter U-bolt is required, installation is no different than with the conventional springs,” Griffin said.
