3M LED Tape Light gives illumination anywhere

The new 3M LED Tape Light is designed for multiple indoor and outdoor applications and is suitable for a wide range of environments. Designed for fast and flexible lighting solutions in three configurations - one for multi-purpose and two for utility vehicles - the energy-efficient lights providing clear, bright light wherever needed with a flexible, low-profile, easy to install design.

According to 3M, its new 3M LED Tape Light is designed for multiple indoor and outdoor applications and is suitable for a wide range of environments, providing clear, bright light wherever needed with a “flexible, low-profile, easy to install, repositionable, minimalistic design.”

“There are many times you need light for a project, or just want to give an area additional visibility,” said Ranjit Thakur, business leader, Thin Flex Lighting, 3M Automotive Aftermarket Division. “This unique lighting system combines our advanced technology and innovative design with an energy efficient solution to some of the everyday challenges of our customers. We are excited to see the many diverse and creative uses of the 3M Thin Flex Lighting platform in markets and applications across the globe."

The tape light is designed for fast and flexible lighting solutions in three configurations: one for multi-purpose, (PN 34050) and two for utility vehicles. Multi-Purpose 3M LED Tape Light produces an average light output of 75/115 lumens (Alkaline/Lithium batteries) over a period of 12 hours. The ultra-low profile, lightweight and flexible 3-ft. strip with three LED lights make this mountable/portable light versatile enough to use in a variety of spaces such as garages, tool boxes, work benches, sheds, cabinets or in hard-to-reach areas. The 3M LED Tape Light comes with a small battery pack and can be easily attached, mounted or hung, delivering light where you need it, according to the company.

The Utility Vehicle 3M LED Tape Light is a 4-ft. strip with three LED lights for illuminating the job for hard-working trucks. It delivers 100 lumens of light in the Standard Kit, (PN 34051) and 200 lumens of light in the Deluxe Kit, (PN 34052). It can be installed under truck bed rails; in built-in toolboxes, trailers and storage cabinets. The kits include a 12-volt battery hard-wiring kit to connect to the vehicle’s battery.

The lights can be turned on right from the bed and feature a sensor switch that triggers them on and off. To turn on/off, touch the surface or place a hand within 1/4-in. of the switch. The lights automatically shut off after 20 minutes, eliminating accidental battery drainage, the maker added. Initially, the 3M LED Tape Lights will be available nationally at NAPA stores.
