Collective Data releases collectiveFleet 6

Collective Data Inc., a  provider of fleet and asset management software systems, has released collectiveFleet 6, the latest version of the company’s comprehensive solution for managing fleet operations.

Unlike other fleet management systems, collectiveFleet is engineered to adapt to virtually any particular fleet without custom programming. This major release expands on that fundamental flexibility.

“We have expanded the software to allow quick configurations throughout, making it even easier to adapt the software to your needs independently by user or globally for the entire organization,” said Jason Wonase, Collective Data’s president and chief executive officer.

Among other upgrades, version 6 extends easy configurability to the critical role of inspections, said the company.

“Considering the wide range of equipment and assets that need to be managed and inspected in collectiveFleet, we have designed an inspection builder that allows you to configure what inspections look like by equipment or equipment class,” said Wonase. “This allows you to easily create the metrics that need to be tracked, as well as the actions that need to be taken to evaluate or correct issues based on the inspection results.”

In collectiveFleet 6, a fleet can set up a new inspection simply by typing into a field, then selecting among many existing items to be inspected—components of a vehicle, for example. The fleet can also create custom items of almost any kind, Wonase explained.

“In collectiveFleet 6, you can select what kind of response is required with any inspection item. It can be a simple pass-fail check box or it can be a pull down menu that offers various input options. You might choose ‘numeric’ to express pounds per square inch in a tire. You might select ‘two decimals’ for values in dollars and cents. You can select ‘characters’ for words or other non-numeric responses,” Wonase said.

“You can assign the new inspection form to an existing class of vehicles, to a new category you create, or even to an individual piece of equipment. The process is totally intuitive and step-by-step. collectiveFleet 6 is designed for maintenance people to configure and use,” he said.

Beyond configurable inspections, collectiveFleet 6 offers new enhancements. These include extended status descriptions, a simplified tire tracking process, pre-defined parts and labor categories, and a simple, illuminating way to budget for vehicle replacement.
