Steering shaft assembly issues prompt Freightliner recall

The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration has announced a recall on select Freightliner 108SD, 114SD, and Business Class M2 vehicles. The steering shaft assembly of the affected vehicles may have been installed incorrectly, potentially leading to a loss of control.

Summary

Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Freightliner 108SD, 114SD, and Business Class M2 vehicles. The steering shaft assembly may have been installed incorrectly, which can cause a loss of connection between the steering wheel and the front wheels.

Remedy

DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and repair the steering shaft assembly, as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin November 16, 2018. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA’s number for this recall is FL-791.
