Chevron’s Delo brand of technologically advanced engine oils, lubricants and coolants announced that Delo 400 LE SAE 15W-40 has met the Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan (JSAE) automotive diesel engine oil standard, JASO DH-2. Delo 400 LE 15W-40 is optimally formulated for new low-emission engines running on ultra low sulfur diesel (ULSD) fuel and is also backward compatible with earlier API oil service categories, the company said.
The DH-2 classification applies to Japanese-made diesel engines with after-treatment devices, such as diesel particulate filters (DPFs) and catalysts that comply with up-to-date exhaust emission regulations. DH-2 oils, like Delo 400 LE SAE 15W-40, are said to be ideal for the medium- and heavy-duty engines built by manufacturers like Hino Motors Ltd., Isuzu Motors Ltd., Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corp. and Nissan Diesel Motor Co. Ltd.
“Japanese manufactured diesel trucks and engines have become increasingly popular in the United States,” said Nicole Fujishige, indirect channel marketing manager, Chevron Products Co. “Due to the growing popularity of these medium- and heavy-duty engines, we felt our flagship Delo 400 LE 15W-40 needed to meet this standard. By meeting JASO DH-2, our customers can now carry a single oil that meets the varying OEM and industry specifications they face. Best of all, they have the confidence that comes with using a product they know will provide bottom-line value.”
Delo 400 LE SAE 15W-40 is the first Delo product to meet the JASO DH-2 engine oil specification. Delo 400 already meets or exceeds all major API, ACEA and diesel engine manufacturer’s requirements, including: API Service Categories CJ-4, CI-4 PLUS, CI-4, CH-4, CF, SM, SL; Caterpillar ECF-3, ECF-2; Cummins CES 20081; Detroit Diesel Corp. Power Guard Oil Specification 93K218; Mack EO-O Premium Plus 07; Mercedes Benz MB-Approval 228.31; MTU Category 2.1; and Volvo VDS-4.
Chevron Delo 400 LE SAE 15W-40’s high level of ashless dispersants keeps fuel soot in suspension, helping to avoid filter plugging, heavy cylinder head sludge, abrasive polishing wear, high viscosity increase, and oil gelling, the company said. These problems can result in excessive engine wear and bearing failure on startup, without prior indication to the operator. Delo 400 LE SAE 15W-40 is available in gallon jugs, 5-gal. pails, 55-gal. drums and in bulk. More information on Delo products can be found at:
