Navistar launches International-branded brake drum

The company's International brake drums line features machined-to-balance engineering and lean manufacturing techniques, resulting in 2-4 lbs. weight savings per drum and improved heat dissipation when compared to traditional designs.

Navistar said its International brake drums private label branded line of brake drums is manufactured to the exacting standards of Navistar OE specifications. These are the same drums that will be used at a factory production level on many of the company’s truck models later in the year, Navistar added.

Manufactured to SAE and ASTM standards, the International brake drums are subjected to stringent quality audits for both the product and manufacturing process, the company said.

Many models of the new brake drums feature machined-to-balance engineering and lean manufacturing techniques, resulting in 2-4 lbs. weight savings per drum and improved heat dissipation when compared to traditional designs. This delivers an improved cost per mile and a longer life expectancy through an improved heat transfer process and anti-corrosion protection, according to the company.

“Our customers have become increasingly focused on reducing their operating costs-per-mile, and we have engineered these drums to support that focus, while providing the premium quality and value they expect from International,” said Joe Felicelli, product marketing manager for Navistar Parts. “These brake drums will give drivers consistent, dependable performance at a competitive price.”

International brake drums are available through International/IC truck and bus dealerships and offer a one-year/unlimited mileage warranty, the company added.
