Abex brakes offer quiet stopping power for buses, coaches

Federal-Mogul's Abex brand offers a complete friction portfolio for the commercial vehicle category, including the new Abex MQ transit block. The new block is engineered to significantly reduce noise and help ensure a stable, reliable and safe braking system.

Quieter brake operation, excellent stopping power and extended lining life are now available for transit vehicles through the new Abex MQ transit block from Federal-Mogul Corp., according to the company. The Abex brand offers a complete friction portfolio for the commercial vehicle category, with products available through distributors across North America.

The new transit block joins the family of premium commercial vehicle products from Federal-Mogul and extends the company’s original equipment and replacement friction solutions for the transit market. According to the maker, the new block is engineered to significantly reduce noise and help ensure a stable, reliable and safe braking system.

Federal safety standard ratings for this new replacement lining are:
• FMVSS 121 – 26K (210 AL Factor) – Meritor 14.5-in. W Brake
• FMVSS 121 – 28K (195 AL Factor) – Meritor 16.5-in. Cast Plus

“Federal-Mogul and the Abex brand are widely recognized for products that deliver maximum braking power for commercial applications at a minimal cost per mile,” said Alesha Erving, product manager, commercial vehicle friction, Federal-Mogul. “Our new Abex MQ transit block offers these same important benefits combined with significantly quieter operation.”
