Over 1.5 lbs. lighter than the previous model, BorgWarner said its new Kysor K30 on/off fan drive features an aluminum housing designed to help boost fuel economy and performance. Since the housing no longer requires a zinc coating, it’s more environmentally friendly. Available with 2.56-in. or 5-in. pilot options, the fan drive offers the many features the Kysor brand is known for, including dynamic torque capacity, durability, reliability, Powerwedge clutch liners and a Fail Safe design.
“Lower weight means better fuel economy and performance, key features commercial truck fleet owners value,” said Daniel CasaSanta, president and general manager, BorgWarner Thermal Systems.
In addition, the new on/off fan drives feature higher dynamic torque capacity, delivering cooling performance whenever the engine demands it. Powerwedge clutch liners provide consistent, long-life performance and can be replaced in just 10 minutes without taking the clutch off the vehicle, the maker said. To prevent the engine from overheating and avoid costly breakdowns, BorgWarner’s Fail Safe design allows the fan to continue to rotate, even in the event of air system pressure failure.
The company added that, with proper maintenance, a million miles of trouble-free service may be expected under normal operating conditions.
