Six new models have joined the lineup of UltraShift Plus automated transmissions from Eaton. Configured to complement low torque diesel engines, the additions include three UltraShift Plus Vocational Construction Series (VCS) and three Vocational Multipurpose Series (VMS) models. Available in 10- and 11-speed versions, the transmissions have torque ratings of 1,050, 1,150 and 1,250 ft.-lbs.
Eaton has also launched a new family of UltraShift Plus transmissions designed exclusively for Navistar. The 16-speed direct drive automated mechanical transmissions, designed with a 17% step between gears, include the UltraShift PLUS LSE (Linehaul Small-Step Efficiency) that will be offered initially with Navistar’s MaxxForce 13L engines on International vehicles. Production is scheduled to begin in April.
All UltraShift Plus transmissions use an electronic clutch actuator, which is fully engaged at idle to enhance driver control in tight spaces. Other UltraShift Plus features include a fully automated two-pedal design, auto neutral and Intelligent Hill Start Aid, which prevents roll-back and roll-forward while launching on grades, and Automatic, Manual, Low modes.
