Now the cornerstone of the SD line of Freightliner severe-duty vocational trucks, the new 122SD model has a GVWR of up to 92,000 lbs. and a GCWR up to 160,000 lbs. The 122SD model can be configured for a variety of severe-duty applications such as logging, oil/gas field services, concrete mixing, specialty/heavy-haul, crane, dump, vocational on-highway, and towing/recovery.
The 122SD is equipped with a Detroit DD15 TC engine as standard equipment. Detroit DD13, DD16 and Cummins ISX15 engines with ratings up to 600 HP and a variety of Eaton manual and automated manual transmissions, including the optional Eaton Cobra shifter or Allison automatic transmission options, can also be specified.
The 122SD features an aluminum cab reinforced with e-coated steel. The chassis can be spec’ed with a range of vocational suspension choices and single or double channel frame rails with tensile strength of up to 120,000 PSI and up to 5 million RBM. New standard and optional components for the 122SD include hood durability enhancements, West coast-style door mounted mirrors, severe-duty front cab mounts, an impact-resistant back window, a lower radiator rock guard, halogen headlights with replaceable glass lens reflectors, a one-piece skid plate, an 80,000-lb rated logger front bumper, disc brakes, and an in-cab battery box on day cab models. The 122SD is also offered with new sleeper interior options.
