From environmentally-friendly components to durable products, Great Dane Trailers is showcasing practical solutions to help customers go green and save green.

The most durable, low maintenance product in Great Dane’s dry van line, the SSL, features the EPA SmartWay spec with side skirts, front fairings, low rolling resistance tires, aluminum wheels and other lightweight materials. Together, the use of these components can yield a 6.5% savings in fuel, according to the manufacturer.

Among the SSL’s durable attributes are its unique construction of its single-sided laminate interior lining, which is far superior to plywood or plastic linings, and its tough, one-of-a-kind steel lining that provides exceptional protection against forklift damage, which typically can be visible on the outer wall. The SSL provides increased cubic capacity comparable to standard plate and composite wall trailers but with unmatched durability, Great Dane added.

Further enhancing the durability of the SSL on display is CorroGuard, Great Dane’s exclusive spray-in-place thermoplastic elastomeric coating that is applied to suspensions and support gear to provide superior long-term protection from road abrasion and corrosion. The SSL’s innovative design along with CorroGuard, the most comprehensive corrosion solution in the industry, can help minimize maintenance costs and extend the life of the trailer.
