Great Dane introduced a complete package of prevention solutions to fight corrosion. Fleets can choose total corrosion protection, including CorroGuard.
Great Dane has been working to develop technologies to add life to trailers, reduce costs and provide for a superior appearance on the road. As a standard product offering, Great Dane uses corrosion resistant undercoating compounds for steel components of van underbodies and a two-step epoxy primerurethane combination for dry freight van rear frames and platform trailers.
In addition to the standard undercoatings, Great Dane now offers total corrosion protection from the front walls to rear doors and from the roofline to the road. A pivotal component of Great Dane’s total protection package to fight corrosion is CorroGuard, a spray-in-place thermoplastic elastomer coating applied to suspensions and support gear.
This protective barrier provides superior long-term protection from road abrasion and corrosion, and is resistant to deicing chemicals, road debris, climate fluctuations, ice and snow, the company said. CorroGuard is airtight and watertight, and will not crack, warp, flake or split under even the harshest of conditions.
CorroGuard withstands application in extreme climates. It is rapid curing, and it can be applied in cold temperatures and will not bubble in climates of high humidity, the company said. The coating remains pliable over time and withstands prolonged UV exposure. It is also 100 percent solids, does not contain volatile organic compounds or solvents and is not carcinogenic, ozone depleting, or harmful if inhaled, the company said.
Additional corrosion-fighting solutions in Great Dane’s total protection package are: ALCOA Dura-Bright Wheels with XBRTM technology; Grote Long Life Light System with LED lights; stainless steel rear frames that are rust resistant; and composite swing-type rear doors on dry freight vans.
