The Meritor Tire Inflation System (MTIS) by PSI was prominently featured as a value-added option on as many as 14 of the trailers being exhibited during the 2012 Mid-America Trucking Show, according to the company.
Trailer manufacturers showing MTIS on their show trailers include: Great Dane, Wabash, Western, Mack, Talbert, Manac, Doonan, X-L Specialized, BenLee, Etnyre, Vanguard, Hyundai, East and Trail King.
Along with MATS show trailers exhibiting MTIS, a prototype of a new revolutionary vehicle – the 2012 AirFlow BulletTruck, brought to Mid-America for the first time – also includes PSI automatic tire inflation technology, both MTIS for the trailer and an external system for the tractor. Bob Sliwa, founder and president of Airflow Truck Co., has a stated goal to obtain the lowest cost-per-mile operating cost for big rig operators.
The 2012 AirFlow BulletTruck prototype “uses advanced 21st century computer-aided-design aerodynamics, lightweight modern materials and assembly, and innovative but practical solutions to common problems,” said Al Cohn, director of new market development and engineering support for PSI, which has been working closely with Sliwa “The Airflow Truck includes really exciting technology that shows fleets what’s possible. We’re glad to be involved in Bob’s efforts to build a super fuel-efficient truck/trailer combination model.”
