OTC, an SPX Brand, said it continues to expand its line of Specialty Tools and Equipment with the release of six new digital automotive multimeters. From the 3907 Probe Multimeter, which is small enough to fit into a pocket, to the 750 Series Automotive Multimeter (P/N 3980), which performs numerous automotive-specific tests and is compatible with hybrid vehicle systems, OTC has a multimeter to get the job done quickly and efficiently.
The company also offers a dedicated Hybrid Multimeter, the 3990, a full function meter that includes an insulation test feature, along with a new line of protective high voltage safety gloves for hybrid service.
According to the maker, the OTC 550 Series Digital Multimeter (P/N 3940) features powerful automotive test functions such as Frequency, Duty Cycle, Diode and Continuity Test, plus all of the standard meter features you expect in a professional grade multimeter, while the new 750 Series Automotive Multimeter includes all of the great features of the 550 Series Digital Multimeter, and now comes loaded with advanced automotive specific test functions such as True RMS, RPM, Dwell, Pulse Width, Temperature, Backlight, RS232, and Min/Max. It is CATIII so it is compatible with Hybrid vehicle systems. These multimeters are ideal for direct electrical testing, verification of automotive circuits and drivability related diagnostics, according to the company.
OTC’s new 3907 probe-style meter is a full function multimeter in a convenient pocket pen-type package. The probe contains a retractable probe cover and lead clip on the back of the meter for carrying in pocket or storage. The set comes in sizes from IPR-08 to IPR-55, giving technicians the confidence of having the right tool for the job at hand, OTC said.
The 1000V CAT III Hybrid Multimeter with insulation test is a full function multimeter with an insulation test feature that can be used to test for voltage leaks through insulation found on hybrid and electric vehicles.
The AMP Clamp/Multimeter (P/N 3908) was designed to allow accurate current measurements using clamp jaws. The clamp meter is well-suited for testing starting/charging circuits, and provides easy access to current voltage and other key automotive measurements, all in one easy to use tool, the maker said. It is ideal for direct electrical testing, verification of automotive circuits and drivability related diagnostics, starting/charging system tests. The kit includes test leads, temperature probe, soft carry case and 9-volt battery. The meter is in compliance with the following standards: IEC1010 double insulation, Pollution degree 2, over voltage category III (600 volts), and Power One 9-volt alkaline battery (NEDA 1604 or equivalent).
