Users of Roll-Rite tarps operated via electric gear motors can control their tarps with the touch of a button, thanks to the company’s enhanced Wireless Power Pack with Black Box remote control.

“Waste, scrap and demolition haulers can now easily monitor their load from a safe distance and have a full 360-degree view as their tarp is being retracted or deployed,” said Keith Searfoss, vice president-engineering at Roll-Rite, who helped engineer the redesigned electric-over-hydraulic system.

With conventional truck-mounted tarp controls, drivers “tethered” to the truck may be unaware of potential load obstructions or debris hazards, which could interfere with tarp operations and driver safety. The wireless remote allows a user to monitor tarp operations standing at a safe distance away from his vehicle, the company said. It is designed to be a security and control measure for the operator.

A six-function wireless key fob powers a hydraulic tower up and down, adjustable pivots in and out, and tarp open and close. The Black Box houses relay-activated controls and can also feature an optional audible safety alarm signal, indicating when the tarp is in operation, the company said.

The electric-over-hydraulic Wireless Power Pack is designed for rolloffs, hooklifts and luggers using one or more adjustable system features. The Wireless Power Pack features a pre-wired hydraulic pump for “install-ready” convenience, the company added.
